Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health’s board of directors has approved $214 million for a three-part Greater Lafayette community growth project.

The project includes the construction of a new hospital in West Lafayette, Ind., a cancer center on the system’s Arnett Hospital campus in Lafayette and an expansion of multiple West Lafayette medical services, according to a July 11 news release.

“Several years ago, we recognized that Greater Lafayette was on the cusp of significant growth,” Art Vasquez, president of IU Health’s West Region, said in the release. “We planted our flag early, confident in the community’s potential and committed to being part of its future.”

Construction on the hospital and cancer center is expected to kick off in 2026, with projected openings in 2028.
