Becker’s is proud to recognize 50 chief digital officers who are driving digital transformation in hospitals and health systems nationwide in 2025.

As digital efforts become a top priority in healthcare, these visionary leaders are taking the reins by leading technological integration, enhancing the patient experience and expanding access to care. 

Working closely with IT and clinical teams, chief digital officers are leading the charge in implementing tools that streamline EHRs, optimize workflows and modernize healthcare delivery.

Shakeeb Akhter. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. As Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s leader for enterprise digital transformation, Mr. Akhter oversees technology, analytics, AI automation and cybersecurity for the enterprise. He focuses on enhancing patient care, health system operations, and seamless experiences for patients and clinicians using technology. He developed the system’s digital transformation strategy, positioning it as a leader for pediatric digital innovation in AI, automation and digitally enabled care models. Under his leadership, the system launched AI chatbot “CHOP GPT” and an automation center of excellence, and is deploying Epic’s Gen AI capabilities such as AI-based note summarization and AI-assisted messages. The system was the first organization to scale “ART”, Epic’s AI-assisted messaging feature, to all clinicians and is now piloting Abridge for ambient listening. The system has also deployed more than nine remote patient programs, transforming care for over 10,000 children, resulting in life-saving events and reducing readmission by 30% for some programs. In addition, the system is digitizing the patient journey to improve access and experience and now ranks in Epic’s top 5% for e-check-in, and is cutting some specialty wait times up to 20 days. The system also entered a strategic partnership with Microsoft to leverage AI tools and Microsoft Azure to host clinical and operational applications, driving millions in savings. System recognitions include Epic “Honor Roll”, “8 Gold Stars” status, and “Level 8 Digital Health Most Wired”. Mr. Akhter serves on boards and advisory committees for the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, Temple University and the Northwestern Analytics program.

Scott Arnold. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer for Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital. Mr. Arnold has served in roles at Tampa General Hospital since 2010, first joining as vice president of IT to manage the conversation of its EHR. He now leads all digital, IT and innovation strategy. A pioneer of the “CareComm” command center, Mr. Arnold helped integrate real-time data analytics using GE Healthcare and Palantir platforms, reducing sepsis-related mortality by 3% and saving nearly 200 lives. His digital vision expanded Palantir’s Foundry across more than a dozen applications, optimizing everything from staffing to clinical decision-making. Mr. Arnold is now steering the deployment of Palantir’s AI platform to further streamline care coordination, revenue cycle operations and real-time decision support. His work has helped Tampa General earn national accolades, including Newsweek’s Best Smart Hospitals honors for three consecutive years from 2023-25. Mr. Arnold also fosters a culture of grassroots innovation through initiatives like “IdeaMVP”, empowering team members to transform ideas into impactful healthcare solutions.

Kathy Azeez-Narain. Chief Digital and Customer Innovation Officer for Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, Calif.). At Hoag Hospital, Ms. Azeez-Narain has led the design and implementation of a digital ecosystem that seamlessly connects patients to their care journey. She developed the Hoag “Compass” app to empower preventive wellness engagement and the “Nona” app, which supports expectant and new mothers with personalized digital guidance. Focused on accessibility and inclusivity, her strategy emphasizes creating tools that serve diverse patient populations while strengthening the provider-patient relationship. Drawing from a successful tenure at American Express, she has applied sophisticated digital product and marketing strategies to elevate healthcare experiences and position Hoag as a leader in consumer-first innovation. Ms. Azeez-Narain’s leadership has contributed to Hoag’s ranking as the top hospital in Orange County, Calif. and its continued excellence in women’s health and robotic surgery.

Sameer Badlani, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Fairview (Minneapolis). Dr. Badlani leads digital innovation for a system of 34,000 employees and 10 care facilities. He was previously the chief health information officer and system vice president of enterprise data management and analytics at Sutter Health in Sacramento, Calif. He was also chief health information officer at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City and chief medical information officer at UChicago Medicine.

Ashis Barad, MD. Chief Digital and Technology Officer for Hospital for Special Surgery (New York City). In September 2024, Dr. Barad was appointed the inaugural chief digital and technology officer at the Hospital for Special Surgery, the world’s top academic medical center for musculoskeletal health. A physician executive with over 18 years of clinical and digital innovation experience, Dr. Barad previously served as chief digital and information officer at Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network, where he led initiatives in AI, digital health and data analytics. At HSS, he leads enterprisewide digital strategy and technology operations to enhance patient outcomes, elevate care delivery and modernize the patient experience.

Tom Barnett. Chief Information and Digital Officer for Baptist Memorial Health Care (Memphis, Tenn.). Mr. Barnett leads IT and digital strategy for Baptist Memorial’s 24-hospital network, where his vision integrates patient engagement, automation and clinical technology to deliver care across three states. He emphasizes process redesign and technology adoption to ensure that solutions are truly transformative. Under his leadership, Baptist Memorial successfully migrated its Epic instance to Amazon Web Services, earning him both the “CIO 100” and “CSO 50” awards in 2024. Mr. Barnett is also a three-time Tennessee ORBIE finalist for “CIO of the Year” and was recognized by Computerworld as a “Premier 100 Technology Leader” in 2016. He is a current member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. Mr. Barnett held prior roles at University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center and Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem. 

Denise Basow, MD. Chief Digital Officer for Ochsner Health (New Orleans). Dr. Basow leads Ochsner Health’s digital innovation efforts across 46 hospitals and 370 care sites, steering large-scale digital health deployments to benefit patients. She also oversees “Innovation Ochsner”, a hub for remote care management and virtual health tools like the “Ochsner Connected Maternity Online Monitoring” hypertension monitoring program, which was recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for its impact on maternal health. Under her guidance, Ochsner has earned top-tier recognitions including the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society “Davies Award” and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives “Level 9 Digital Health Most Wired” status. Her focus on AI and tech-enabled care positions Ochsner at the forefront of scalable, evidence-based and equitable care models. Before joining Ochsner, she led Wolters Kluwer’s clinical effectiveness division, serving millions of physicians and patients worldwide.

Joy Brown. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer for Boston Medical Center Health System. At Boston Medical Center Health System, Ms. Brown is orchestrating an ambitious digital overhaul to improve access, patient outcomes and care efficiency across an integrated delivery network. She is leading the digital integration of newly acquired hospitals, including St. Elizabeth’s in Brighton, Mass. and Good Samaritan in Brockton, Mass., laying the technological foundation for future interoperability and safety. Her implementation of welcome kiosks has streamlined outpatient check-ins, reducing registration times and administrative burden, while enhancing data collection for value-based care. With a background as Verizon Media’s chief data officer, she brings expertise in scaling personalized digital experiences to over a billion users globally. Her leadership has earned the system accolades such as Newsweek’s “Smart Hospital” honors, Healthgrades excellence awards, and inclusion in Forbes’ “Best Employers” list. She also serves on several boards, including Huron Consulting, ESO Solutions and ValidiFi.

Hank Capps, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer for Wellstar Health System (Marietta, Ga.). Since joining Wellstar Health System in 2021, Dr. Capps has driven bold digital innovation, spearheading the creation of a new digital operating model and leading Catalyst by Wellstar, a first-of-its-kind $100 million healthcare venture fund. As executive vice president and CIDO for the health system, he has launched more than 20 pilots, built two studio companies and guided 19 strategic investments that are reshaping care delivery across multiple sectors. A family physician with a deep leadership history, Dr. Capps previously served at Winston-Salem, N.C. -based Novant Health as chief digital health and engagement officer, where he scaled new business models and digital health ventures. His work has earned Wellstar national recognition, including the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ “Level 9 Most Wired” honors and “Stage 7 Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model” designations. In 2023, Fortune named Wellstar one of America’s most innovative companies. Dr. Capps himself was honored with the 2022 “Georgia CIO of the Year” ORBIE award. Beyond his executive roles, he contributes to the industry as a board member for Campbell University, Betty’s Co. and the Engage venture fund.

Rohit Chandra, PhD. Chief Digital Officer at Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland). Dr. Chandra stepped into the chief digital officer role in 2022. He leads the information technology division and drives digital innovation across Cleveland Clinic’s health system. Dr. Chandra has more than 25 years of experience in digital technology and engineering. He previously served as the vice president of engineering at technology startup Sunshine Products.

Saad Chaudhry. Chief Digital and Information Officer for SSM Health (St. Louis). At SSM Health, Mr. Chaudhry refines healthcare technology strategy with an emphasis on access, innovation and human-centered care. He brings over two decades of experience and global expertise in digital transformation from organizations like Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Medicine, Pittsburgh-based UPMC and Annapolis, Md.-based Luminis Health. Recognized by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society as a “Top Future-50 Leader”, Mr. Chaudhry blends analytics, informatics and enterprise systems to create holistic digital experiences for patients and caregivers. Under his leadership, SSM has maintained its “Most Wired” recognition from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives for 11 consecutive years. He also has oversight of facilities management, real estate operations, and physical security at SSM Health in addition to tech-related functions. He contributes nationally as a board of trustees member of CHIME and several other organizations, while teaching future health leaders as adjunct faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Zafar Chaudry, MD. Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Officer and Chief Information Officer at Seattle Children’s. Dr. Chaudry provides vision and leadership for the development of technology initiatives and enterprisewide information systems and services for Seattle Children’s. His goal is to provide clinicians with technology that enables safe and high-quality patient care. Dr. Chaudry, who began his career as a physician, has more than 30 years of experience in all aspects of information technology. His background includes work in both healthcare and corporate settings, enterprise infrastructure development and business intelligence. He previously served as CIO at Cambridge University Hospitals in the United Kingdom.

Terri Couts, RN. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer at The Guthrie Clinic (Sayre, Pa.). Ms. Couts leads Guthrie’s IT services strategy, digital offerings and IT workforce. Her influence improves the experience of patients and providers alike, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services in support of clinical and business operations. Her accomplishments in her current role include leading a cross-functional team in implementing solutions that resulted in cost savings of $5 million. This was achieved through streamlined processes, reduced administrative overhead and optimized resource utilization over an 18-month period. She also helped found a virtual command center to house virtual care models and daily operations, a venture that received the “Health Technology Excellence Award” from ECRI Health in 2023. That same year, she was selected as “Innovator of the Year” by the College of Health Information Management Executives.

Sunil Dadlani. Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Transformation Officer at Atlantic Health System (Morristown, N.J.). In his role as executive vice president and chief information and digital transformation officer, Mr. Dadlani is responsible for the enhancement of the digital patient and consumer experiences. This encompasses the delivery of transformative technology solutions to elevate patient care, outcomes and interactions. He is committed to leveraging technological innovation to provide the highest quality care and to build healthier communities for the 7.5 million patients the Atlantic Health System serves. Mr. Dadlani is particularly focused on the systemwide expansion and diversification of intelligent automation, including AI. Under Mr. Dadlani’s leadership, the system was named a 2023 “CIO 100” winner by Foundry’s CIO for its use of automation tools in streamlining insurance processes for prior authorization. Prior to joining Atlantic Health System, Mr. Dadlani served as CIO for the New York State Department of Health.

Rémy Evard. Chief Digital Officer and Head of Technology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York City). Mr. Evard, who brings more than 30 years experience in technology leadership, oversees the design and execution of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s digital strategy. He is also in charge of the digital informatics and technology solutions department, which includes more than 1,000 employees.

Jim Feen. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer for Southcoast Health System (New Bedford, Mass.). Mr. Feen has led Southcoast Health System through a decade of transformative digital growth, including a major Epic implementation that unified disparate EHRs into a single, patient-focused system. His commitment to continuous learning and team empowerment has cultivated a high-performing digital division recognized with College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ “Most Wired Level 10” honors and Epic “Gold Stars Level 9” status. Mr. Feen’s strategic vision aligns digital innovation with clinical excellence, patient care and operational sustainability. Widely respected by staff, physicians, and industry peers, he holds roles on internal leadership committees and collaborates with national IT bodies.

Jeffrey Ferranti, MD. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Duke University Health System (Durham, N.C.). Prior to serving as chief digital officer, Dr. Ferranti was CIO, vice president for medical informatics and leader of Duke Health Technology Solutions. He also helped the health system roll out the enterprise deployment of Epic’s EHR system and provided strategic oversight of the health system’s technology.

Randall Gaboriault. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer of ChristianaCare (Wilmington, Del.). Mr. Gaboriault is responsible for leading digital technology and innovation initiatives at ChristianaCare. He also serves as chair of the Delaware Health Information Network, the first statewide health information exchange in the nation.

Nari Gopala. Chief Digital Officer for Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.). Mr. Gopala was appointed chief digital officer of Mayo Clinic in December 2024. There, he leads enterprisewide digital strategy to elevate the patient and staff experience through transformative technologies. He collaborates closely with the medical director of Mayo’s Center for Digital Health to shape the institution’s future in digital healthcare. Before joining Mayo Clinic, he served as chief digital officer at Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, where he guided innovation across one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the nation. His prior leadership roles include senior technology positions at Amazon Web Services and Sony Online Entertainment, bringing a broad perspective to healthcare digitalization. 

George T. “Buddy” Hickman. Chief Digital and Information Officer at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Buffalo, N.Y.). Mr. Hickman leads the planning, development and implementation of technology policy and activation across Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since Mr. Hickman joined the historic cancer center in early 2024, his team has delivered advances translating to benefits for patients, clinicians, researchers and workforce members. He has stood up a framework for shared leadership and governance of progressive digital health and IT, impacted organizationwide AI policy and governance, integrated AI, data and development efforts with clinical, translational and scientific research colleagues, launched a long-range IT planning effort, defined a shared vision for transforming systems, and crafted an IT improvement plan based on internally led assessments and surveys. His team also developed patient and workforce applications, improved infrastructure resiliency and raised the customer experience. Mr. Hickman has served the health industry as a CIO for more than two decades, touching every facet of the clinical and business continuum while supporting academic and research missions. An industry speaker, author and mentor in digital health leadership, he is a past board chair for College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and a past recipient of their joint “John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award”. He also actively serves on industry and vendor advisory boards.

David Jaffray, PhD. Senior Vice President and Chief Technology and Digital Officer of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). Dr. Jaffray is known globally for pioneering state-of-the-art image-guided radiation therapy, advancing the science and practice of medical physics, and international leadership in clinical data science for oncology. He draws on more than three decades of scientific expertise and proven skill as an innovator. In his current role, he leads the strategic design, acquisition, management and implementation of technological capacity across MD Anderson’s campuses. Under his leadership, Dr. Jaffray’s team has improved the Net EHR Experience scores from the 37th to 97th percentile. Dr. Jaffary also co-directs MD Anderson’s Institute for Data Science in Oncology, which is integrating the most advanced computational and data science approaches with MD Anderson’s clinical and scientific expertise. Since its 2023 launch, the institute has established multiple strategic collaborations with academic institutions and companies, recruiting over 30 talented data scientists to MD Anderson alongside 50 affiliated internal collaborators to lead projects across the institution.

Jason Joseph. Chief Digital and Information Officer for Corewell Health (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Mr. Joseph has led a transformative digital evolution at Corewell Health, unifying digital services across regions and aligning more than 1,900 team members behind a shared vision for accessible, equitable care. One standout accomplishment under his leadership was the successful rollout of the “One Epic Ecosystem”, which consolidated EHR systems across Corewell’s East, South and West regions, streamlining 400,000 patient records for seamless clinical continuity. He also championed the deployment of Abridge, an AI-enabled ambient documentation tool that cut after-hours documentation by 48% and boosted both clinician satisfaction and patient engagement. He also fosters innovation through initiatives like the “Ways of Working” model, and hosts leadership summits that encourage collaboration, experimentation and operational excellence. Corewell Health’s digital services team earned recognition as one of Computerworld’s “Best Places to Work in IT” for 2025 and received the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society “Davies Award” under his guidance. Mr. Joseph also dedicates time to public service and sits on multiple community and industry boards.

Jennifer Junis, MSN, RN. President of OSF OnCall Digital Health at OSF HealthCare (Peoria, Ill.). Ms. Junis oversees the strategic and operational structure of digital experience, digital care and on demand services at OSF OnCall. She rapidly deployed the five-year strategy for OSF OnCall in just five weeks in response to Covid-19, establishing a pandemic digital response hub. Under her leadership, OSF OnCall provides digital care to more than 500,000 patients annually, offering condition-specific support with 24/7 care team access. The chronic condition remote monitoring program has improved patient outcomes, lowering blood pressure and blood glucose levels. The OSF OnCall Digital Hospital, a hospital-at-home program, sees hospital readmission rates that are 5.3% lower than those without follow-up care. Ms. Junis also led the implementation of virtual nursing, improving inpatient discharge at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center, where the percentage of patients experiencing extended discharge times dropped from nearly 50% to 33%. She spearheaded a $64 million state initiative with Federally Qualified Health Centers to improve Medicaid patient care, with programs like pregnancy and postpartum care that offer 24/7 support. Her team standardized patient scheduling and nurse triage through the OSF OnCall Contact Center, which handled 2.7 million calls in fiscal year 2024.

Tarun Kapoor, MD. Former Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Transformation Officer for Virtua Health (Marlton, N.J.). As both a physician and digital transformation leader, Dr. Kapoor has revolutionized patient access and clinical efficiency at Virtua Health by aligning technology with care delivery. Under his leadership, initiatives such as online scheduling and clinical care gap campaigns have led to significant improvements, including a 50% increase in timely primary care access and the detection of hundreds of pre-cancerous and vision-threatening conditions. His team’s deployment of AI tools like augmented response technology and care.ai’s “Smart Care” facility platform has transformed provider workflows and patient experience. Notably, Virtua has seen a 27% improvement in burnout scores and earned recognition in Epic’s national newsletter. Dr. Kapoor also helped introduce the “GI Genius” AI module across Virtua’s five hospitals, elevating colonoscopy precision and reducing cancer risks. Thanks to his combined expertise in the clinical and technological realms, he is also a nationally sought-after speaker. Dr. Kapoor departed from this role in early July 2025.

Zain Kazmi. Associate Vice Chancellor, Chief Digital and Analytics Officer of Health Affairs at the University of Texas Health System (Austin). Mr. Kazmi leads several enterprisewide strategic initiatives and collaborations at UT Health, spanning digital health, technology and EHR optimization. He is currently leading a strategic initiative to expand healthcare access and improve quality of care in the Permian Basin region of the state. Overseeing the health system’s data and AI program, he brings together top AI leaders from across UT’s health campuses and actively explores partnerships with other prominent academic medical centers.

Omkar Kulkarni. Chief Transformation and Digital Officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Mr.  Kulkarni leads transformative change across Children’s Hospital Los Angeles by designing and implementing practical, innovative solutions to high-impact problems. This includes the establishment of remote workforce optimization, the optimization of data management and the expansion of virtual care offerings. Under Mr. Kulkarni’s leadership, CHLA became the first children’s hospital in the country to deploy a virtual rooming experience for patient families. He also oversaw the launch of CHLA’s virtual nursing program and spearheaded a first-of-its-kind partnership between a hospital and a local school district, offering virtual healthcare visits to children while at school. This program virtually connects children to specialists in lieu of missing school for an appointment. Mr. Kulkarni also serves as innovation advisor for the West Coast Consortium for Technology and Innovation in Pediatrics.

Matt Kull. Chief Information and Digital Strategy Officer for Inova (Falls Church, Va.). Mr. Kull leads Inova’s digital innovation strategy by combining advanced technology with patient-centered care and a strong emphasis on data privacy. He drove Inova’s groundbreaking partnerships with AI-powered communications platform Hyro and customer experience provider NICE, integrating AI-driven chat and voice assistants that optimize both patient communications and staff productivity. Mr. Kull’s leadership helped Inova become the first health system certified by The Joint Commission for the responsible use of health data. Previously, as CIO at Cleveland Clinic, he led global digital initiatives including the construction of a 5G-enabled hospital and the deployment of the first IBM Q-system quantum computer in healthcare. Under his direction, Inova has maintained the Washington, D.C. region’s No. 1 health system according to U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2024-25, and has earned repeated “Most Wired” honors from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. Mr. Kull’s career has spanned roles at AmerisourceBergen, McKesson and Dallas-based Parkland Health.

Christopher Longhurst, MD. Chief Medical Officer and Chief Digital Officer of UC San Diego Health. In his dual role as chief medical and digital officer at UC San Diego Health, Dr. Longhurst provides leadership to the system’s medical staff while ensuring measures are in place to provide the highest standard of care. Prior to his current role, Dr. Longhurst served as the system’s chief information officer and associate chief medical officer for quality and safety.

Maximilian Maile. Senior Vice President of Digital Health for Parkview Health (Fort Wayne, Ind.). In his role as senior vice president of digital health for Parkview Health, Mr. Maile has overseen a suite of tools that engage over 70% of patients daily and deliver more than 60 million annual views. His leadership and high-impact digital initiatives have helped earn Parkview back-to-back NRC Health “National Patient Experience Awards” for 2023 and 2024, as well as College of Healthcare Information Management Executives “Level 10 Most Wired” honors. Mr. Maile was instrumental in building Parkview’s virtual health infrastructure pre-Covid, enabling the rapid expansion of telemedicine and patient self-service capabilities. His AI strategy emphasizes responsible implementation, while his 100% team retention rate over seven years reflects leadership continuity in a rapidly evolving space. Mr. Maile also serves as co-chair of an AI subcommittee and holds several community board roles.

Michael Mainiero. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer at Catholic Health (Rockville, Centre, N.Y.).  Mr. Mainiero is advancing digital innovation by orchestrating comprehensive digital transformation across six hospitals and dozens of practice locations. His role entails crafting and executing a dynamic digital strategy and managing the technological ecosystem of the organization, with oversight of digital strategy, technology, cybersecurity, telehealth and more. He is also leading the system’s Epic EHR implementation while maintaining focus on clinical workflow optimization and efficiency. Throughout his more than 25-year career, he has spearheaded digital transformation strategies, innovation and design in diverse settings such as start-ups, Fortune 100 companies and academic medical centers. Prior to his tenure at Catholic Health, he held leadership roles at New York City-based NYU Langone for 20 years, spearheading user experience, software and product development.

Novlet Mattis. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer for Orlando (Fla.) Health. With oversight of $600 million in IT and clinical engineering operations, along with a portfolio that serves an expanding national and international footprint, Ms. Mattis has led one of the most comprehensive digital transformations in U.S. healthcare. She built and retained a high-performing team with an above 90% retention rate over four years, all while executing enterprisewide digital modernization, including the implementation of Microsoft 365 and Epic. Under her leadership, Orlando Health achieved College of Healthcare Information Management Executives “Level 10” status and a Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society “Stage 7” ranking, placing it in the top tier of digitally mature health systems nationally. Ms. Mattis also actively mentors students and donates equipment to underserved communities through multiple civic initiatives. 

Nader Mherabi. Executive Vice President, Vice Dean and Chief Digital and Information Officer of NYU Langone Health (New York City). Mr. Mherabi is responsible for all of NYU Langone Health’s information technology activities and development. He also leads the organization’s digital transformation initiative. In the 20 years since joining the health system, he has worked tirelessly to create a singular IT department that homes a centralized electronic medical record for each patient. Prior to his tenure at NYU Langone Health, he served as vice president of Credit Suisse First Boston.

Aaron Miri, DHA. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Baptist Health (Jacksonville, Fla.). Dr. Miri is responsible for shaping the future of Baptist Health from an information technology perspective, with an emphasis on digital strategy, innovation, cybersecurity and the enterprisewide integration of technology. With more than 20 years of healthcare and IT experience, Dr. Miri has a track record of transforming care delivery for consumers, patients and providers through collaboration with clinicians, internal stakeholders and technology partners. In the first year of his tenure at Baptist, he spearheaded the health system’s EHR transition to Epic and the launch of digital applications like “Baptist Access”, an all-in-one wayfinding platform, and “Baptist MyChart”, a secure patient portal. In 2024, Dr. Miri was named “CIO of the Year” by Florida ORBIE, the state’s premier technology executive recognition program. In 2016, The Obama Administration appointed Dr. Miri to the federal health IT policy committee, after which he was reappointed for a second term. He currently serves as co-chair of the 28-member committee.

Raj Mohan. Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Digital Experience Officer for Ascension (St. Louis). Mr. Mohan is revolutionizing the way Ascension connects with patients through his dual role, overseeing marketing and digital experience strategy at one of the country’s largest nonprofit Catholic health systems. His global background in consumer-facing digital solutions spans the airline, healthcare, hospitality and media industries, equipping him to drive innovation that meets modern patient expectations. Jane Moran. Chief Information and Digital Officer at Mass General Brigham (Boston). Ms. Moran leads the development and operations of technology across an integrated academic health system, which includes founding members Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Among her key areas of focus are efforts to integrate Mass General Brigham’s digital landscape, streamlining systems across the expansive network of hospitals, clinics and providers. Leading a team of more than 1,800 digital experts, she works to employ a number of digital innovations that enhance patient access and care coordination, including implementation of conversational AI pilot programs to help individuals more easily schedule and manage appointments. Under her leadership, Mass General Brigham is expanding use of AI to equip and empower researchers to streamline clinical trial screening, and is building a data platform to optimize research operations and expand data available to investigators. Her team also replaced more than 50 legacy digital systems, streamlining and enabling easier workflow management for the health system’s 80,000-plus employees. These include her team’s successful implementation of a process where staff can more easily increase efficiency and drive meaningful progress in healthcare delivery. Ms. Moran was appointed to the Massachusetts governor’s 2024 AI task force to strengthen the state’s tech competitiveness.

Kristin Myers. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Northwell Health (New Hyde Park, N.Y.). Since joining Northwell Health in January 2024, Ms. Myers has driven a sweeping digital overhaul across a $17 billion organization with over 85,000 employees. She established seven strategic priorities that realigned IT with enterprise goals, improved collaboration and significantly enhanced operational execution. Simon Nazarian. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Technology Officer for City of Hope (Duarte, Calif.). Mr. Nazarian leads City of Hope’s technology vision, deploying digital, AI and analytics solutions to accelerate cancer and diabetes innovation while enhancing clinician and patient experiences. He is pioneering the use of responsible AI through a large language model platform that condenses decades of patient data into actionable insights, freeing up physician time for human connection. Onyeka Nchege. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer for Novant Health (Winston-Salem, N.C.). At Novant Health, Mr. Nchege leads the strategic deployment of cutting-edge consumer technologies and clinical solutions that elevate patient care and drive enterprisewide digital transformation. With nearly 30 years of leadership experience, including CIO roles at Toyota, Coca-Cola and Interstate Batteries, he brings a blend of operational insight and innovation fluency. His leadership at Novant has strengthened enterprise growth by aligning digital advancements with long-term organizational purpose and sustainability. His leadership has helped Novant earn accolades such as College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ “Most Wired” distinction and the National Committee for Quality Assurance validation for its “Community Connect” software. Thanks to his visionary approach to IT strategy and transformation, he was named “CIO of the Year” by the Carolina ORBIE Awards in 2024. Divya Pathak. Chief Data and AI Officer for NYC Health + Hospitals (New York City). Ms. Pathak leads the data and AI strategy for NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal health system in the U.S. There, she advances digital transformation at an unmatched scale. As a nationally recognized AI innovator, she was honored with the 2024 MachineCon “AI Innovator Award” for developing frameworks that safely embed AI into clinical care. Her leadership has fostered enterprisewide AI adoption, improving operational performance, patient outcomes and care quality across a complex, high-volume environment. Previously, Ms. Pathak served as vice chair of AI and analytics at Rochester, Minn-based Mayo Clinic’s Center for Digital Health and held key leadership roles at IBM Research, pioneering AI tools for healthcare providers and payers. A prominent voice in the industry, she frequently presents at national forums and collaborates with academic and technology institutions to accelerate responsible AI use.

Shafiq Rab, MD. Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer and System CIO of Tufts Medicine (Burlington, Mass.). Dr. Rab leads Tuft Medicine’s digital transformation efforts, overseeing the systemwide digital and IT organization that supports care. He is an expert on interoperability, fast healthcare interoperability resources, cloud strategy, use of apps, application programming interfaces, AI and digital healthcare economy. Prior to joining Tufts Medicine in November 2020, he served as senior vice president and CIO at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dwight Raum. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer at Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health. Mitchell D. Schnall, MD, PhD. Senior Vice President for Data and Technology Solutions at University of Pennsylvania Health System (Philadelphia). Dr. Schnall assumed the inaugural role of senior vice president for data and technology solutions at Penn Medicine’s University of Pennsylvania Health System in May 2024. There, he leads integrated strategies to advance clinical care, operations and innovation through technology. Overseeing the offices of the CIO, CMIO and chief analytics officer, he guides a cohesive enterprisewide approach to digital transformation, including automated patient access, monitoring and self-service tools. Dr. Schnall is driving Penn Medicine into a new era of data-driven healthcare by leveraging advanced tools to improve provider experience, enhance outcomes and optimize system performance. Previously, as chair of radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, he doubled the department’s size and research funding, unified training programs and developed the nation’s leading radiology residency. Lee Schwamm, MD. Senior Vice President, Chief Digital Health Officer for Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health. Dr. Schwamm spearheads digital efforts at Yale New Haven Health, integrating AI, virtual care and ambient technologies into a reimagined model of patient and clinician experience. He leads the health system’s digital strategy by uniting fragmented virtual care efforts and deploying generative AI tools like ambient clinical documentation. He is also a staunch advocate for equitable, human-centered innovation. Thus far at Yale New Haven Health, he has overhauled IT into a cross-functional digital experience portfolio, enabling stakeholder engagement through four digital domains and three foundational tech layers. Dr. Schwamm’s past leadership at Boston-based Mass General Brigham included enabling 1.7 million virtual visits during the pandemic and developing the pioneering telestroke model adopted by over 2,500 U.S. hospitals. He currently serves on national boards, editorial panels and task forces such as the American Hospital Association’s AI task force, amplifying his system’s voice in shaping responsible AI use in medicine. 

Eric Smith. Chief Digital Officer for Memorial Hermann Health System (Houston). Mr. Smith is driving Memorial Hermann’s digital initiatives with a clear focus on consumer-centric design, having led the systemwide Epic transition in 2024 to unify its EHR and revenue cycle platforms. He spearheaded the launch of a new digital front door platform, simplifying health information access and improving communication through AI-integrated bi-directional messaging. Under Mr. Smith’s guidance, Memorial Hermann has implemented predictive analytics and AI-powered tools, including voice bots that boosted managed care patient engagement by 15% and clinical workflow enhancements within Epic. He also established an AI Governance Council to ensure ethical, secure and equitable deployment of emerging technologies across the health system. Tressa Springmann. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer of LifeBridge Health (Baltimore). Ms. Springmann became CIO for LifeBridge Health in 2012 and assumed the chief digital officer role in 2020. She is also senior vice president, overseeing health information management and the system’s call centers. Under her leadership, the system is transforming marketing and information system functions to create a digital front door in support of increased access to information and an improved customer experience. Prior to joining LifeBridge, Ms. Springmann served as vice president and CIO for Townson, Md.-based Greater Baltimore Medical Center. 

Lisa S. Stump. Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Information Officer for Mount Sinai Health System (New York City). Ms. Stump serves as executive vice president and CDIO for Mount Sinai Health System, as well as dean for IT at the Icahn School of Medicine. She leads digital, IT, data and AI strategy across the enterprise. A member of Mount Sinai’s executive leadership team, she is instrumental in defining and executing the health system’s five-year strategic direction through advanced digital capabilities, data governance, cybersecurity and technology innovation. Prior to Mount Sinai, she served as senior vice president and chief information and digital transformation officer at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health and Yale Medicine, where she oversaw major IT integrations, EHR unification and digital innovation initiatives. A fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Ms. Stump is also the inaugural chair of its section of digital and telehealth providers. Jeff Sturman. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of Memorial Healthcare System (Hollywood, Fla.). Mr. Sturman has been with Memorial for more than three years and an integral part of the health system’s digital transformation. He was promoted from CIO to chief digital officer in October 2021 as the health system aims to expand its digital innovation and consumerism approaches. He now oversees IT, clinical engineering and biomed and spearheads solutions to fix healthcare access issues in the community.

Joel Vengco. Senior Vice President of Information Technology Services and Chief Information and Digital Officer at Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare. In his position at Hartford HealthCare, Mr. Vengco is responsible for leading all technology operations, enterprise applications, and data and digital transformation initiatives across 8 hospitals and more than 400 clinical sites. He is currently leading the charge to move the organization’s data to Google Cloud’s Healthcare Data Engine. He brings over 20 years of related experience to his role, having most recently acted as senior vice president and chief information digital officer at Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health. His primary professional goal is to utilize data and digital to personalize the patient experience. 

Laura Wilt. Senior Vice President and Chief Digital Officer for Sutter Health (Sacramento, Calif.). In her two years at Sutter Health, Ms. Wilt has delivered strong results by aligning digital innovation with patient-centric care. Her team gave back over 1 million hours to staff in 2023 through automation and streamlined workflows, while enhancing the patient experience through a modernized website, chatbot tools and self-service scheduling for millions of visits. Ms. Wilt has spearheaded the “ONE Sutter ONE Platform,” integrating disparate systems into a seamless digital ecosystem that reduces clinician burden and improves outcomes. Her leadership also includes launching a fully digital chronic care model and fostering creativity through the “Sutter Innovation Challenge”, which drew over 5,000 responses systemwide. A leader in industry collaboration, she heads Sutter’s innovation center, catalyzing partnerships to build healthcare’s future.
