Philadelphia-based Fox Chase Cancer Center has opened a new oncology satellite pharmacy, tripling its capacity to prepare chemotherapy and intravenous medications.
The facility, unveiled at a press conference and ribbon-cutting June 13, is located in the lower level of the west building and is designed to support the center’s expanding outpatient clinics and an upcoming advanced treatment center.
The pharmacy can now handle over 500 IV medication preparations daily, a significant increase from its previous capacity. The advanced treatment center, currently in planning, will increase infusion chair capacity by 25% and add exam space and waiting areas.
The facility was built with a $3.98 million capital investment, including $1.5 million in public funding from Pennsylvania’s redevelopment assistance capital program. The pharmacy expansion is also part of a growing theranostics program, which uses radiopharmaceuticals for targeted cancer treatment.
