28 hospitals with 6+ Magnet designations

About 10% of U.S. hospitals are designated as “Magnet” hospitals for nursing excellence, and fewer than 1% have earned the designation more than six times. 

The American Nurses Credentialing Center awards Magnet recognition to hospitals based on their quality of patient care and nursing excellence. As of June 30, 28 hospitals have received six or more Magnet designations — representing just 0.46% of the nation’s 6,093 hospitals. 

Since late 2024, five hospitals have earned their sixth Magnet designation: University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga., Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and Children’s Mercy Kansas City (Mo.)
